My wife and I decided to take a cruise for our 30th anniversary it was the best decision we made
It was one of the most awe inspiring vacations of beautiful people and Beautiful Scenery.
We will take you through our vacation starting with a tour of our ship and our cruise this month than our port of calls next month, and ending with all costs involved backdrop .
First off we decide to go with carnival out of Miami. We went on the ship Valor. An eight day cruise leaving on March 17 and returning March 25.
We first went to our cabin, it was a nice size room with couch, queen bed, TV, and balcony.
Our luggage would be delivered in about 20 minutes but in the meantime we went to check out the ship
We had a cabin on the sixth floor upper deck near the front of the ship. We went to the middle of the ship where the main bank of elevators are located. There are six elevators with three glass elevators facing them with a view of the lobby of the glass ones where they had the piano and bar.
As we have had found out that two levels we would use mostly were the ninth floor Lido deck
( pools, hot tubs, buffets, etc.) and fifth floor ( sushi bar, casino, nightclub, and game room etc.)
The Lido deck opens up to the main deck. Glass doors opened the show you the glamour of the big screen TV overlooking two hot tubs, a pool, and a ocean of lounge chairs going up to three decks.
The next deck makes a rectangle around Lido deck and so forth until you get to the top deck and the serenity area (adults only) which has two hot tubs on the very top in useful and front of the ship.
Undercover of the Lido deck on either side there are seating areas.
One side for smokers on the other one not.
And this is where started the bars and buffets, they have one grill
( hamburgers, hot dogs, etc, eggs and bacon in the morning)
On either side of the doors heading to the rear elevators.
On the sides near the grills two glass doors lead to three buffets. Keep walking back to the end of this ship with two more hot tubs, a bar and a 24hr pizza place, is in a rectangular area where the roof closes in bad weather.
On the top was a miniature golf course, a basketball court, A volleyball net, and a running track.
The service on the ship was excellent, everyone was happy and pleased to see you, The food was out of this world, from Steaks, Fish and different fruit everyday. if you were hungry you was not looking too good. haha.
The first night for dinner we decided to eat in the Lincoln dining room, as available to us between 545 and 930. We were asked if we would like to sit alone or sit with other couples, we implied other people would be fine. We sat with a lovely couple from Germany and another couple from Canada.
Its service was like in a nice restaurant with the Waiters getting your orders and nice small talk around the table. The company was nice and the food was great but too much for my wife and I.
So every other night we ate at the three buffets downstairs, Rows and rows of dishes , a different flavor fish every night, different meat to be carved for you, vegetables and fruits galore.
There is was a desert bar and a salad bar. There's an unlimited supply of coffee, Tea, iced tea, and some of the best lemonade my wife and I had tasted. When I look back now the only thing I would have changed is that I would not buy the soda card.(59.04 for 8 days unlimited soda)
I do like soda but i could have lived on the coffee and lemonade.
I am not a big guy but I have to tell you I ate from the time I got up till bed time. thank god for my Hi metabolism and I don't think I'd gained a pound. haha.
Every evening we would get a Brochure under my door, telling us what would be the activities on the ship the next day, every day they would have some activity going on like the marriage show in the Ivanhoe theater or the hairiest man contest on the Lido deck. My wife and I did not go to either of these, but they were on the TV for the rest of the week, so it was cool to watch them and they both looked like fun. On the Brochure would be times things were happening around the ship or what time we would be into port and leaving port. We did see one show in the Ivanhoe theater it was an 80's show.
With Madonna, Michael Jackson, Pee wee herman, Pink Floyd, etc.
It was a very very enjoyable show in fact we went and saw it twice that day.
Most nights we spent out on our balcony watching the water go by, with the only lights to see the passing cruise ship going the other way or just before the sun sets, up on the front of the ship in a hot tub with a bunch of friendly people and a drink to toast anther wonderful day. We would watch movies on the big screen in the middle of the ship with the world running by without a care or any worries except what you were going too eat next. But as with everything it must come to an end and if you ever do anything please enjoy a cruise. But now it's back to the real world of cars and work and bills and saving up for next year because I see a cruise in my future.
Next month I will finish this article writing about the ports of calls that we stopped at, including,
Nassau Bahamas, San Juan Puerto Rico, St Maarten, and Saint Thomas.
It was enjoyable places and I will describe them all good and bad and I will give a breakdown of costs involved in this trip. I hope this has helped you ,So hope to see you then.
